Healing the Hips and Knees in Purna Yoga™

In this workshop you will learn a simple yet powerful combination of stretches called the ‘Hip Series.’ It is designed to relieve compression in the hip joint and open the hips in a balanced way. Many knee problems arise from tightness in the hips, thus the Hip Series is a key element in a daily routine to healing the knees. You will also learn basic exercises to
re-align and strengthen the knees. This is a must for those plagued with tight hips and achy knees! Enjoy the feeling of freedom in the hips and stability in the knees that comes with doing these simple stretches and exercises.

Healing the Low Back in Purna Yoga™

In this workshop you will learn 3 different series to take care of the low back. The first is called the Morning Series to stretch, loosen and warm up the lower back first thing in the morning or to unwind at the end of the day. The second is the Hip Series designed to open the major muscle groups of the hips. Tight hamstrings and hip flexors contribute to 90% of lower back pain. The Hip Series will help open these muscles that often pull on the pelvis thereby distorting the lower back. The third and final is the Lower Back Series designed to release muscles in spasm and re-set the sacrum. We will also work on some simple stretches to release the muscles of the lower back and on lifting the pit of the abdomen to support the lower back. All who practice these exercises will benefit finding relief from tension and pain. The workshop includes basic anatomy and several handouts.

Releasing the Neck, Shoulders and Upper Back … Ahhhh!

Most of us carry tension in our neck and shoulders. As a result of this tension, the blood vessels in these areas shrink, thereby creating pain and stiffness. This can lead to headaches and fatigue. This tension reduces our ability to think clearly, to communicate effectively and express what we need to say. In this workshop, you will learn stretches and techniques for releasing tension in these key areas to promote a stronger and more clear mind-body connection. And by the end of the workshop you will be ‘ah-ing’ a sigh of relief after releasing the neck and shoulders.
